At Marcella, we use mainly sustainable materials. We dramatically minimize textile waste - a symptom of the fashion industry's chronic overproduction problem - in a highly innovative way. On this Earth Day, however, we're focused most on one aspect of sustainability that is valued all too insufficiently in our industry: ensuring that garment workers are compensated in a generous, SUSTAINABLE way.
Taking care of our staff as we do, we're lucky to count on an incredible team, most of which has been with Marcella for years on end. Step inside our atelier to meet a few of the special individuals who craft your clothes, where every stitch, cut, and detail come together to create pieces you'll love for years to come.
Iliyana - Press Operator
“Hi, I’m Iliyana, and I’m a press operator here at Marcella. My job is to make sure every piece looks flawless before it reaches you. What do I love most about my work? The dynamics and the diversity—two days are never the same. I started this job in 2020, and if I had to describe my time at Marcella in just one word, I’d say “chaos”—but the good kind! There’s always something happening, and I enjoy the energy of it. Outside of work, I’m all about the mountains and traveling. Nothing makes me happier than exploring new places and breathtaking views.”
Victoria - Seamstress
“I’m Victoria (Vicky), and I’m part of the creative process at Marcella. I sew the samples for new collections and make adjustments until we find the perfect fit. It’s a job that requires precision, patience, and a love for detail. That’s what I love most—being part of the creative process when designing new collections. Seeing an idea come to life, step by step, is incredibly rewarding. I’ve been working at Marcella for four years now, and if I had to describe my time here in one word, it would be “pleasure.” There’s something really fulfilling about sewing one design and knowing it will be worn and loved by someone out there. Outside of work, my biggest passion is Bulgarian traditional dance. I do it professionally, and my dance team is like my second family. It’s something that brings me so much joy and keeps me connected to my roots.”
Tinka - Seamstress
“My name is Tinka, and I’m a seamstress at Marcella. I truly love what I do. I’ve been crafting garments with passion since the year 2000, and every piece I work on still brings me joy. In 2021, I became part of the Marcella team, and it’s been a rewarding experience ever since. If I had to describe my time here in one word, it would be consistency- the foundation that allows me to stay productive and fulfilled in my work. Outside of work, I find happiness in life’s simple pleasures. I love to unwind with funny TV shows and spend quality time with my five-year-old granddaughter. Gardening is another passion of mine and whenever I get the chance, I enjoy going fishing. It brings me a sense of peace and joy that’s hard to match.”
Nevena - Production Seamstress
“Hi, my name is Nevena, but everyone calls me Veni. I’m a production seamstress here at Marcella, and I’ve been part of the team since 2017. What I love most about my job? Seeing a piece of clothing finished and done well. But what I enjoy even more is working on complex designs with lots of details, it feels like solving a puzzle. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of stitching that final piece and seeing everything come together perfectly. After so many years at Marcella, I can’t describe my work in just one word. Instead, I’d say it brings me calmness, security, satisfaction, and professionalism. It’s more than just a job. Outside of work, my greatest joy is spending time with my four grandchildren. They keep me busy, they keep me smiling, and they fill my life with so much love.”
Tanya - Pattern Cutter
“Hi, I’m Tanya, and I’m a cutter at Marcella. My job is to carefully cut the fabric for each design, making sure everything is precise and ready for the next steps in production. What I love most about my work? The diversity in creating clothes. Every design is different, and I enjoy the variety that comes with each new piece. I joined Marcella in 2023 and, if I were to describe my experience here, it would be all about hard work and concentration—dedication and focus that drive every step of the process. Outside of work, I love solving puzzles. Maybe that’s why I enjoy my job so much—it’s all about putting the right pieces together!”
We see our connection with you, our Marcella community, as something deeply personal and lasting. It’s a story we craft together—one that starts with the highly valued artisans who bring passion and precision to the timeless clothes we create, a story that then continues to unfold each time you wear Marcella.
Here's to all the stories we have left to tell!

Thank you for sharing the stories of these clothing artists. The love for their craft shows in the details of every piece. There is nothing like seeing the maker of the clothes that I have purchased. Now I feel connected to those who made my purchase. I will continue to support them because your company is a Good ship. You build the relationship and friendship with the woman who make and buy your clothes.
You’re the needle for the world!

I’m so happy to finally see these hard working people get recognition. I grew up with one such professional. My mom like many immigrant women and men used her skills to help our small family. She sacrificed long days in not very conducive to her health situations but she always looked ahead. Studying patter making and design. Hard work and talent took her to many heights. She even had a studio in our basement. Before I started my journalism career she would make these fabulous designs for me to ‘show off’ as I like to say. She is now 97 and although not sewing she could teach someone like me her many skills.
As a storyteller and documentarian I love focusing on on individuals like you have done and inspire the generations to come. Bravo Marcella I love your designs and message. I would love if possible to contribute to your team, bringing in small snippets stories like the ones showcased above. What brought these ladies to this profession, how did they survive and many more. What is their lives like at work and beyond.
Anyway thank you for your message.
