At Marcella, we believe less clutter in one’s closet means more space and time for life’s most meaningful experiences. Our team is passionate about creating timeless, “upscale” street style. It’s a special kind of uniqueness we aspire to. We call it “Minimalism with an Edge.”

Family Heritage

When we think of all the strong female figures who inspire this brand, we think first and foremost of the woman who inspires its aesthetic - our grandmother, Marcella. Marcella grew up in a place where there was small opportunity for someone with big dreams and yet, by the force of her will and talent, she eventually became one of Bulgaria’s most prominent fashion designers in her lifetime. Marcella's granddaughter, Creative Director Siyana Huszar, came to New York City to pursue her career and eventually ended up continuing the family business, animated by Marcella’s non-compromising desire for original design and expert, ethical craftsmanship.

NEW YORK STYLE

New York deeply influences Siyana's design. Indeed, Marcella’s aesthetic is informed by life in that city. Like its architecture, our garments and accessories combine clean lines and geometric construction with the occasional surprise of asymmetry. And, like its inhabitants, they similarly exude a bold, individual edge.

EUROPEAN CRAFTSMANSHIP

Regarding production approach, our fabulous, highly trained team produces all of its collections within the European Union in Siyana's native country, Bulgaria. Not only are all of our fabrics, knits, leather, and trimmings locally sourced but, in these days of global outsourcing, each garment, shoe, and accessory is made in our company atelier or within long-time and fastidiously supervised local production partners.

Minimalism with an Edge is about more than just an aesthetic – as conscientiously designed as it may be. It's also informed by the utilitarianism of urban living (big bills, small closets!), by the ethos of buying fewer pieces, but better ones: the hard-working, seasonless wardrobe staples that can take you from day to night in an instant. At Marcella, we will never stop focusing on setting trends rather than following them. Our timeless aesthetic allows our collections to stay alive and relevant beyond several months (and with many favorite pieces for years on end...), minimizing dead stock and waste. As such, we stand as a proud, sustainable alternative to "disposable" or "fast" fashion - both in terms of design philosophy and production approach.
