Tina Guo is a cellist, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and entrepreneur known for blending classical, cinematic, rock, and electronic styles. She has worked on a wide range of film, TV, and game soundtracks, including Dune, Top Gun: Maverick, Inception, Wonder Woman, Cyberpunk 2077, and Call of Duty, and co-composed the main theme for Wonder Woman with Hans Zimmer.

Tell us a little about yourself!

Beyond recording, I perform internationally as both a classical soloist and live touring artist, and I’ve collaborated with artists across many genres, from orchestras to metal bands to pop and electronic acts. I’m also passionate about music entrepreneurship, composing for brands and original projects, and creating tools for other musicians, including my sample libraries.

At the core of everything I do is a love of storytelling through music, pushing creative boundaries, and building a career that connects artistry, innovation, and global collaboration.

When, and how, did you get into music?

I was forced into the family trade :) Both my parents are musicians. I started piano at age 3 while living in Shanghai, China, then took up violin at 6 and cello at 7.

Of the various musical talents you have, why is Cello the one you focus on?

It’s the one I’m best at! But I dabble in lots of different things to keep life interesting.

Can you describe what it’s like juggling so many projects (across recording, touring, etc.)? What’s an “average” day like?

I love being in the flow and embracing constant change, so there really isn’t an average day. Usually, I “work” seven days a week, but I love what I do, and having my own projects—including the NANOWAR album I’m focusing on now, as well as the soundtrack and client projects I work on—keeps things interesting. On average, I fly to Europe 1–2 times a month, and I also invest in real estate and stocks. I love spreadsheets, hydroponic gardening, and spending time with my Goldendoodle, Pizza.

What has been one of the most impactful experiences you’ve had through your career?

Every experience teaches me something, so there really isn’t one that stands out as more impactful than the others. Instead, it’s the insight and wisdom gained from being exposed to as many different situations, people, and places as possible.

What does education mean to you and how has it influenced your work?

Continued learning is so important. I dropped out of college after 2.5 years at USC, but I continue to take courses, read, and learn every day. With the rapid pace of technological advancement, it’s important to stay relevant and keep your brain in good shape.

What role does style play in the work you do?

Style in the clothes you wear, the music you play, the way you treat others—it’s not really a role, but rather part of the whole. How we present ourselves, the energy we give others, and the way we move through the world are all part of that whole.

What is your favorite piece from your Marcella Capsule?

That is a nearly impossible question to answer!! I love so many of the pieces but the sheer skirt is so beautiful, flows so well in the wind, and is slightly sexy without being too over-the-top for daily wear.
