Marcella is a brand built on people: the designers who imagine every detail, the stylists who shape every look, and the photographers who help us share it all with you (plus, all the people outside the photo shoots who make it happen from garment workers to ecommerce experts).
Focusing on our photo shoots today, we're thrilled to introduce you to some of the long-standing crew members we cherish for making each photo shoot memorable, and for bringing the creativity and passion that we feel resonate in every frame.
On set, the environment is rich with laughter, joy, and genuine care. There's a warmth that makes each person's unique talents thrive, bringing our shared artistic vision to life with clarity and ease. It's that collaborative spirit that makes our work so profoundly fulfilling. Our photographers capture that feeling in every frame, and we couldnโt be more grateful for them.
Iโm the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Marcella NYC, Siyana. I wear a lot of hats here, but I'm primarily a designer shaped by purpose, function, and intention across our work that we've created here at Marcella.
How did you get started in your career field?
I grew up immersed in fashion through my grandmother, Marcella, but my own path began while I was working in finance (a world far from design), yet equally defined by structure. As a New Yorker, I felt the tension of big dreams, small closets, and a lack of accessible pieces that could move effortlessly between the many roles a woman plays in a day. Eventually, I realized I needed to create what I couldnโt find, and thatโs where the journey truly began.
What's your favorite thing about being on-set?
On-set, I love the instant when everything comes togetherโwhen the whole concept of the collection, the models, the light and the overall energy of the set align flawlessly.ย
What's one Marcella memory that stands out to you?
A moment Iโll never forget is seeing one of our models try on a Marcella piece and instantly stand taller, as if the garment reminded her of her own power. That transformation, subtle yet undeniable, still guides everything I make. Itโs proof that design can spark something deeper than style.
Iโm Eva Chung, Junior Creative Director & Designer at Marcella. I first discovered Marcella through its summer internship program in New York City while studying fashion in Taiwan. It was an incredible experience, and I was fortunate to be offered a position afterward. Since then, Iโve had the opportunity to work across several departments โ from marketing and e-commerce to design and creative direction. Iโll be celebrating my eighth year with Marcella this coming February!โจ
Whatโs your favorite thing about being on set?
I love the process of creating something that inspires โ something that captures who Marcella is today, who she has been, and who she can become. When a visual comes to life, itโs both empowering and energizing. Our crew has such great chemistry; when everything clicks and the workflow runs seamlessly, it feels like weโre part of a beautiful symphony.
Whatโs one Marcella memory that stands out to you?
I always cherish our photoshoot visual brainstorming sessions. We ask ourselves: Does this direction align with where we want to be as a brand? Does our visual language tell the story of the season and highlight newness in both an editorial and commercial way? Are we still inspired by Marcella and her way of living?โจThese conversations โ paired with the visuals we create โ are incredibly inspiring to me. They remind me why I love what I do.
My name is Mariolga but most people calls me Mari. I started in my career field over 20 years ago. When I moved to the states from Puerto Rico I went to art school in NYC and then moved to Boston and finished in Fashion Merchandising. I always did everyoneโs make up and loved the fashion industry. I was lucky to do an internship with a photography profesor and got to do the hair, make up and fashion styling for his classโฆhe gave me my first paying job and I never looked back.
Whatโs your favorite thing about being on set?
I love the collaboration that happens between the art direction and the artists onset. Every job is different even when you get to work with some of the same people often. There is always a moving variable.
What's one Marcella memory that stands out to you?
One of Marcella memory that stands out to me right now was my first shoot for the brand, but there are so many highlights like Eva's enthusiasm (WOW) at shoots when she likes a picture, when Siyana and I look at center parts together to make sure it's a straight line lol, brushing out Milyโs hair into a giant puff, seeing Kara and her team getting creative with props. Marcella is one of my favorite brands to work for, not just because of the beautiful clothing but what they stand for and the collaboration that happens on set. Love you ladies!
My name is Christian Hernandez, and Iโm a videographer โ though I like to think of myself as a creative in general. I enjoy taking on different roles in production, from set design to lighting and everything in between.
How did you get started in your career field?
I got started because a lot of my friends made music and needed someone to shoot their music videos โ so I became that person! Thatโs really how it all began.
Whatโs your favorite thing about being on set?
My favorite thing about being on set is creating cool videos that make people happy, and seeing their reactions afterward. Thereโs nothing better than watching someone get genuinely excited about what weโve created together.
Whatโs one Marcella memory that stands out to you?
One memory that stands out is how kind and genuine the Marcella team is. After one of our shoots, they gave me flowers and plants to take home. I still have a beautiful red plant that reminds me.
My name is Zoรซ, I have been working with Marcella for a couple years now while I am still in school. I help with a lot of different things but mainly help the social and marketing teams! On set, I mostly get to help create content for socials!
How did you get started in your career field?
I am almost done with school and I am getting a degree in fashion business. Marcella was my first experience getting to be on set! It truly felt like a dream come true moment getting to see all the action up close: the photographers capturing beautiful shots, Eva directing to get the best looks, the stylists deciding between one bag or another, and everyone working together so joyfully and full of creativity.
What's your favorite thing about being on-set?
I think the Marcella team is what really makes being on set such a great time. Everyone is always making each other laugh, encouraging each other, and making sure everyone is good to go at any given moment. We are able to execute such great shots, get lots of work done, while still having so much fun. One of my favorite things on set is watching the monitor as the photographer takes the images. It is so intriguing to see how everyone's work comes together into a beautiful still from real life right in front of me.ย
What's one Marcella memory that stands out to you?
One of my favorite shoots was an outdoor one we did in Brooklyn. I remember Mel brought her electric scooter and to get from the shoot van back to whichever location we were shooting at, she let me take the scooter. It was really silly and fun, it was a beautiful day out and I also got to take shots myself with the models on a very nice camera and got to take some creative liberties. It was really nice to feel trusted by the team and get to execute some of my ideas.
I love Marcella because I have always felt like my creative opinion is valued and encouraged. The best team I could imagine working with.
My name is Emily and I'm a designer at Marcella.
How did you get started in your career field?
I went to school for fashion design at Parsons School of Design at the New School. During that time, I worked in retail and did various internships that helped me gain experience in the fashion industry. After I graduated, I did an internship, some freelance work, and then landed a full time job.ย
What's your favorite thing about being on-set?
I really enjoy seeing the designs come to life on-set, especially when we shoot lifestyle imagery. We have a really creative team that helps bring styles to life through make-up, hair, art direction, photography, videography etc. It's a collaborative effort and because we all work well together, the final imagery looks great.ย
What's one Marcella memory that stands out to you?
I think the launch of spring summer 2024, which was the first collection I got to work on is a memory that stands out. Fashion is always one year ahead in terms of development, so I had started working on the collection when I joined in April of 2023. It was exciting and both nerve-racking to see all of the hard work come to life and have the styles launch. At that point it was up to the consumer to react to the new styles. I was really happy to see how successful styles like the Alyssa Infinity Top became.ย
Stay tuned for spring summer 2026 :) I'm excited about the next launch.
Iโm Mina Feig, a freelance still life & fashion stylist. I started off as a product stylist for an online ecomm retailer that featured high-end designer wares and would style each piece for the consumer website.
Whatโs your favorite thing about being on set?
My favorite part of being on set is definitely the people. The banter between creatives is always amusing and enlightening. Everyone brings so much passion for what they do and itโs a real collaborative effort to get the perfect shot. I love the warmth and energy of the Marcella team, not to mention the volume and array of snacks. It always feels like Iโm at a party yet working!
