Celebrating The Dark Side of Style: Our Goth Muses
Much of the fun in fashion is seeing the creativity it inspires. And from our Marcella ambassador mix, today we're celebrating one group that invariably fascinates us in how artfully they use our designs to express themselves: goths! We reached out to our beloved goth muses to ask why Marcella fits into their world and what advice they’d give to anyone curious about embracing their aesthetic.
We started by asking why they were first drawn to Marcella and what about our design spoke to them:
I was drawn to Marcella because of the brand's commitment to sustainability and versatility. As someone who layers and re-styles pieces constantly, I look for clothing that not only reflects my style but also has longevity — both in quality and in versatility. Marcella checks all of those boxes. – @_withmandie
I love what the brand stands for and that in a world of fast fashion Marcella goes against the norm (just like the alternative/goth community) to give back and create high quality sustainable pieces. I also love that Marcella pieces are easy to style and customize to make your own. – @littlems_scareall
We were curious about how they approach styling their Marcella pieces...
I try to make my outfits interesting in a few ways, either by texture, silhouette or accessories. I feel like this is core to my styling process as I mostly wear black - goth is a music-based subculture and we don’t all wear black all the time but, if I’m being honest, I usually do! – @aussiedomxo
I think when it comes to having a goth or alternative style it’s really about finding cool “basics” that you can add to with all sorts of accessories, but a lot of the times Marcella’s pieces are so strong on their own they don’t need the extra noise of added accessories, which I love because I consider my tattoos as the main accessory in my outfits. – @chelseyceja
Thinking about experimenting with a little more drama? Hear about some of their favorites:
While I have several Marcella pieces I adore, the Eloise Sheer Turtleneck is easily my most worn. It's become a staple in my wardrobe because it layers effortlessly and can be dressed up or down. – @_withmandie
My Georgia pant is probably my most worn piece! Such a gorgeous silhouette and so comfy, too. – @aussiedomxo
More...
The Long Sleeve Manhattan is one of my favorite pieces because it’s so eye-catching with its interesting single sleeve. It’s also really cool to wear when you have tattoos because it just frames them very nicely. – @chelseyceja
Without question, my favorite piece is the Cammi Dress. The style of it alone is perfection, and it can also be dressed up. Plus pockets! Need I say more?? – @littlems_scareall
Our Ambassador community constantly reminds us that minimalism breathes life into every wardrobe. Not only is this the ultimate richness of the Marcella world, but we love seeing how our goth muses always creatively infuse Marcella's pieces with their own depth and edge.
Here’s to celebrating your collective dark side!
xoxo Team Marcella
