At Marcella, we’re constantly evaluating the options available for making our designs more sustainable. For years, we've been asked by you if we can make our best-selling Karma Boots in vegan leather, and we’ve been hard at work bringing this alternative to life. Now say hello to the Vegan Karma Boots!

How did we get here?

Well, in reconceptualizing our beloved boots vegan-style, we wanted to make sure we used the most eco-friendly option possible while preserving the Karma's unique sculptural details. Here’s where we turned to apple leather, a vegan alternative that generates zero waste by repurposing apple byproducts.

How is it Made?

Vegan apple leather is sustainable throughout its entire production process. Made in Italy by up-cycling scraps recovered from the fruit juice and compote industries, apple leather transforms waste into a durable material that resembles the texture and appearance of leather. Unlike conventional vegan leather with a carbon footprint of 5,28Kg CO2 eq/Kg PU, apple leather's recovered waste is zero, generating only organic waste. It's additionally compliant with all REACH regulations and PVC-free.

It gets better – not only is apple leather better for the planet, but its people. The apple leather industry is a fast-growing community supplying jobs and extending seasonal employment throughout the year.

From Apple Core to Core Fashion

Our Karma Boots in genuine leather feature a unique ribbed detail that’s hard to replicate, but apple leather comes the closest. Because this materials is slightly stiffer, there are subtle textural differences from the Karma Boot’s original design. Still, apple leather mimics traditional faux leather's pebbled texture without compromising style or wearability.

Our new, innovative take on the Karma Boots stays true to their comfortable form, with a sneaker-inspired cap toe and an adjustable, oversized double zip pull that you can customize to your liking.
