Tell us a little about yourself!
I served as the digital fashion director at Harper’s BAZAAR for 10 years, and I continue to write for publications including Vogue, Eyeswoon, L’Officiel, and Porter Magazine. Overall, I have worked within the fashion and editorial industries for 15 years.
What made you come to New York?
I knew that, if I wanted to work in a creative industry, New York was where I had to be. I came in pretty blindly, but I managed to find my way after a lot of trial and error and not being afraid to take chances.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about so many things—my family, the creative process, showing up in the world in a positive way, maternal health, art, the list goes on.
What has inspired you to work in the fashion industry in so many areas?
I’m a generator in human design which means I am supposed to follow what lights me up. Getting to style, edit, write, produce shoots and beyond in the fashion space is peak inspiration. I’ve loved getting to explore so many different creative endeavors.
Can you tell us more about what it’s like to be both a writer and content creator in the fashion industry?
I think it’s so interesting to be able to continue to work with publications as well as creative direct my own life and projects.
What does education mean to you?
Education is so important, especially when it’s child-led and takes into account all of the different ways that children like/need to learn. That kind of attention takes money and time, so anyone helping to make that happen is amazing to me.
What parts of the fashion industry and its evolution over the past 15 years have you found to be the most interesting?
The fashion industry has changed so extensively in the last 15 years that it’s almost impossible to track. I think social media and the emerging diversification of voices have been beautiful to watch. It’s not such an ivory tower/gate-kept set up anymore. There’s still so far to go in the diversity of race, age, and body representation in the industry, but seeing more attention put into those areas has been so important.

How can Marcella help to further evolve the fashion industry in a positive way?
Consumers want to know they’re putting their support into brands with a soul who do more than just produce beautiful pieces. Marcella’s all-encompassing charitable component is a wonderful step in that direction.
How do you put your personal ‘stamp’ on your outfits?
I like to have something cool or interesting in everything I wear, even seemingly simple outfits, whether that be playing with proportion, adding a sheer element, or having something unexpected like an open back or interesting accessory. A little bit of vintage always helps, too.
How would you describe your personal style?
Minimalist with interest.
What is one item in your closet you can’t live without?
I’m a denim girl. It's the workhorse of my closet.
What is your favorite piece from your Marcella Capsule?
Eloise, the sheer brown turtleneck, it’s peak minimalist with interest.
