WHAT MARCELLA IS DOING FOR GIVING TUESDAY 2023
We all can recall a moment when the kindness of a stranger brought light to our day and how it inspired us to do the same for someone else. For the Marcella team, Giving Tuesday is a celebration of just that — our shared humanity.
As a brand that humbly tries to embrace the ethos of caring for one another in every possible way through our philosophy of #DesignthatMatters, the "School Days Project" lies at the heart of Marcella's social impact.
Today, we celebrate two company initiatives as part of Giving Tuesday: 1) Marcella's current, ongoing $100,000 match for donations to CAMFED, our inspiring non-profit partner; and 2) our Double School Days initiative on November 28, 2023.

The School Days Project
Re-imagining fashion as a vehicle for advancing women and girls (as we do at Marcella) begins with our School Days Project. We partner year-round with the global NGO CAMFED (The Campaign for Female Education) to support girls’ education in Sub-Saharan Africa — a region where poverty excludes millions from education. For every Marcella design purchased, we support three school days for a girl in need. "Three school days" means 3 times the one-day cost of her books, her uniform, her school fees, her transportation, her lunch, her menstrual pads and more — as tailored by need, EVERYTHING a girl requires to be able to go to school for three days. In partnership with CAMFED and you, our loyal and passionate community of customers, Marcella has thus far supported over 760,000 school days for girls in need and counting — so that they may learn, thrive and lead.

Our $100K Donation Match for CAMFED
For 2023, our amazing non-profit partner, CAMFED, was selected in New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof's annual Holiday Gift Guide as his readers' all-time favorite charity. As part of the Kristof initiative, there is a social impact match and Marcella is proudly now matching the first $100,000 dollars donated to CAMFED in response to this New York Times endorsement. Double School Days Initiative
For Giving Tuesday 2023, Marcella is excited to be able to donate DOUBLE the normal number of school days for every design purchased on the day. Meaning a SIX-day equivalent of school days for a girl in need with each design sold on Giving Tuesday.
Shared Humanity
It is ultimately those moments of shared humanity when we discover kindness, empathy and understanding that we're reminded of why giving back is so important. What a wonderful project giving these young ladies hope and positive character traits. No one should be made to suffer. I am a retired executive educational director who has spent my life helping build skills and reinforcing positive self esteem among those living in unfortunate conditions!
