2023: A YEAR IN REVIEW

Before turning the page entirely to 2024, we want to spend a moment reflecting on the abundant and inspiring year just concluded!

Our brand entered 2023 with big plans – in hopes to not only evolve, but to elevate what we have to offer to our Marcella community and the greater world around us. The year saw us cross quite a few things off of our bucket list, including being ranked as America's fastest-growing fashion brand on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list. To think that so much would come from a first date way back when between a fashion designer and an economic development expert – both impassioned by orienting the world towards a future filled with women’s leadership, prosperity and, most of all, equality.

Marcella began as an Etsy boutique and by the year 2017 we'd become the No. 2 grossing fashion brand on the platform among over 2 million other businesses. We launched our website in late 2019 and, during the next 3 years, we gratefully achieved 8,445% growth. In 2023, we were beyond honored to be recognized on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list as America’s fastest-growing fashion brand – and additionally, as America’s #5 fastest-growing consumer products company and its #47 fastest-growing company, overall. Our efforts to deliver ethical, sustainable and socially impactful fashion within reach certainly won’t stop here...

Our Brick and Mortar Debut

2023 marked the opening of our very first brick and mortar location in San Francisco – bringing a celebration of minimalist style to Fillmore Street, known for its pedestrian-friendly food and fashion scene. Nestled in a sleek urban space, the 900-square-foot store features the Marcella you know and love - our signature ready-to-wear clothing, footwear, and handbags. The memories we made while meeting our Marcella community face-to-face truly resonated, and we hope to meet many more of you in the coming year (maybe even on the East Coast…). Our First Full Vegan Accessories Collection

The team at Marcella sees every new collection as an opportunity for us to expand and extend our commitment to sustainability across all aspects of our brand. From timeless design, to our just-in-time production model, low-impact materials, and even to our garment worker compensation practices, sustainability has always been a central pillar of Marcella. This year, we were excited to release our first full vegan collection of accessories ranging from traditional vegan leather to our exciting Apple Leather rendition of our classic Karma Boots! Based on your enthusiastic reception (thank you!), we look forward to continue innovating with these materials - both in terms of imagining more beloved designs and creating new ones!

765,000 School Days Now Supported

Recognizing that education is a key stepping stone to the prosperity of girls and women around the globe, we proudly partner with CAMFED, a powerhouse NGO, to provide girls with everything they need to go to school. In a recent New York Times article, CAMFED was selected in NYT columnist Nicholas Kristof's annual Holiday Gift Guide as his readers' all-time favorite charity for the non-profit's empowering contributions to the global education of girls and women. In conjunction with Mr. Kristof’s call for the support of CAMFED, Marcella committed to matching the first $100,000 dollars donated to CAMFED from NYT readers. It was a highly inspiring moment for our whole team and, overall, with your commitment, support, and passion fueling Marcella, we've continued to be able to increase our support of a future filled with women-led initiatives. 2023 allowed us to reach over 765,000 school days supported for girls in Sub-Saharan Africa - and by end of 2024 we plan to reach our first million. Onwards and upwards!

Our Gratitude

Having concluded another year of Marcella, we want to thank you for being with us in 2023 for so many "firsts" and big moments. We chased vast ambitions (!), and you were next to us during every moment. The past year, and especially interacting with so many of you both virtually and at our first store in San Francisco, only reinforced that our Marcella community is central to every memory we create and every part of our future.

We raise our glasses to another year of adventure and, most of all, another wonderful year with you.
