Formerly "Marcellamoda," we are now "Marcella" - highlighting our commitment to advancing women and girls globally with the philosophy of DESIGN THAT MATTERS™ - the combination of accessible design, ethical production & social impact. We're inspired by the goal of women having a seat at every table and the first woman inspiring us is "Marcella," the nickname of the famous Bulgarian designer who was Creative Director and Co-Founder Siyana Huszar’s grandmother and trained Siyana on everything she now knows about fashion and garment design.

Our particular design aesthetic STILL grows out of the practical reality of living in New York City: big bills and small closets! Fueled by the bold, individual edge that NYC women exude through their personal style, we're inspired by the ethos of buying fewer pieces, but better ones: the hard-working, seasonless wardrobe staples that can take you from day to night in an instant. All of Marcella's clothing and accessories are designed in NYC and handcrafted in Europe using only locally sourced fabrics and trims.

Why did you change your name?

Together, as a predominantly-female team of entrepreneurs, we seek to revolutionize the ethics of fashion by embracing the idea that each commercial choice made by our company can promote societal change. At Marcella, we are more than minimalist designer fashion within reach. We are a movement seeking to advance women and girls globally through our mission of “Design That Matters™.”

Everyone involved in the production of Marcella’s garments enjoys a truly living wage, a standard 40-hour work week (and paid overtime), 20 days paid vacation annually, paid sick leave, free health care and social security benefits.

Social Impact (The School Days Project)

In partnership with the powerhouse global NGO CAMFED (www.camfed.org), supporting girls' education in sub-Saharan Africa - a region inhabited by half of the world's girls who've never stepped inside a primary school classroom. With your purchase of each Marcella design, you'll support the cost of a girl going to school for five days. Supporting the school fees, the books, the uniforms, the sanitary pads - not just one of these items but, as tailored by need, everything that a girl needs to go to school for one week.

How fast are orders processed?

Order processing times will vary by item type and availability.

If there is a preorder item in your order, please note that your entire order will be mailed once all items are available for shipment.

Can I update/cancel my order or change my address?

We can do our best to accommodate your request for updates to your order or change your address prior to shipping the order. Please contact us immediately after placing your order if you wish to make any changes. Kindly note we would not be able to issue a refund for any items shipped prior to processing your request.

What are your shipping methods and how long do they take?

US mask orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail with a tracking number from our US fulfillment location. Orders are typically delivered within about 2-7 days once shipped. If you upgrade to express shipping, your order would be shipped via FedEx and then delivered within 2 business days.

US apparel orders ship via DHL Express from our European atelier, or via FedEx from our US fulfillment center depending on availability. Once your order has been shipped, you can expect delivery within about 1-7 days.

International mask orders ship via DHL Express from our European atelier. Once your order has been shipped, you can expect delivery within about 1-4 days.

International apparel orders ship via Deutsche Post from our European atelier. Once your order has been shipped, you can expect delivery within about 8-22 days. If you selected express shipping at checkout, or if your order exceeds a total weight of 4.4lbs (2kg), your order will be shipped with DHL Express and will be delivered within 2-6 days once shipped.

Please keep in mind customers may experience delivery delays based on how the operations of the courier services are impacted by COVID-19.

Kindly note that all orders are automatically shipped with a tracking number regardless of the shipping method. Orders via DHL Express are shipped with a signature requirement.

How fast is the shipping? Should I order express shipping?

We ship US mask orders with USPS First Class Mail (2-7 transit days). Please upgrade to express shipping to get your order 2 days after it's shipped. For customers in all other countries, masks are automatically shipped via DHL Express and are delivered within about 1-4 days once shipped.

For apparel orders, our standard shipping times are approximately 1-7 days to the US, and 7-20 days to the rest of the world, excluding processing time.

All apparel orders to the US/Canada will automatically be shipped via DHL Express (or shipped domestically via FedEx depending on availability). For international apparel orders, we now offer the option to upgrade your shipping for express delivery via DHL Express!

For DHL Express shipping, please allow time for order processing. Once shipped, your order will be sent with a tracking number and signature requirement, and you would receive it within these approximate time frames:

  • US/Canada – within 2-3 days (standard shipping option for apparel items)
  • The rest of the world – within 3-5 days
  • Any apparel order with a total weight of over 4.4 lbs (or 2 kg) will automatically be upgraded to DHL Express at no additional charge. Please review our shipping policy page for more information.

    How much does shipping cost?

    Shipping costs vary by country, garment type, and quantity. You'll be able to preview the specific costs before you check out by adding the desired items to your shopping cart.

    Do you ship internationally?

    Yes! We currently ship to the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United States, U.A.E.

    US mask orders are shipped from our US fulfillment center. All other orders are shipped from Europe, where our atelier is located.

    Where can I find my tracking number?

    We will send you your package’s tracking number in a confirmation email once your order has been shipped. You may also log in to our website to view your order status page, as well as available tracking updates, and sign up for shipping notifications via text or Facebook Messenger if desired.

    Will I have to pay customs and duties?

    Some countries charge additional customs and duties, and customers are responsible for any such charges. We are occasionally asked if we can send packages as gifts to avoid such charges, as we understand certain other businesses do. To be clear, this is an illegal practice and may additionally subject you, as the customer, to penalties and fines in your own country. Regardless, as a business that strives to be ethical, we are not able to mark your items as gifts with low value on customs forms. Thanks for your understanding!



    What size am I?

    Sizing varies between our items, so we recommend using the size chart included in each listing to determine your best fit. We also include additional information within each description section in terms of fabric content, overall fit, and more to help inform your decision. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding sizing, fit, or design details.

    Will you be offering more sizes?

    We currently offer sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL in most garments. We are not able to offer custom sizing or sizing for petite figures at the moment.

    Could you help me choose a size?

    Yes, buying online can be tricky and sometimes a bit frustrating in terms of choosing the right size. We're here to help! Please use our contact form, or drop us a line at support@marcellanyc.com with your questions.

    Even though we don't accept orders for custom sizing, we’re happy to help provide some general advice—for example, our jersey and ponte garments are quite stretchy, so we usually recommend sizing down when in doubt.

    We wish we could have you try our garments in person, but since this is not an option as of now, please send us a note and we'll do our best to guide you in the right direction.

    Can you customize a garment for me?

    We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are not able to accept fully customized orders or to provide custom sizing at this time.

    We can occasionally accommodate requests for the shortening or lengthening of some of our non-asymmetric designs, so please contact us with your inquiry. If we’re able to make the custom order for you, please note that we wouldn’t be able to accept the garment for return or exchange. Some customizations also require an additional fee, so please be sure to get in touch with any questions prior to placing your order.

    What is your return/exchange policy?

    Need to exchange or return a garment or footwear from your order? Not a problem! We’re sorry your order is anything less than perfect!

    Please note that all returns and exchanges must be mailed to Europe where our atelier and warehouse are located, within 30 days of receipt and in new and unworn condition.

    Kindly note that masks are ineligible for return or exchange due to health and safety reasons.

    EXCHANGES: For US orders we offer one free size/color exchange per garment. For international orders, please note that we're unable to assist with the cost incurred to mail back the garment, but we’re happy to send your replacement item for no additional shipping charge upon receiving your item for exchange.

    RETURNS: Once received, we will issue your refund for the returned garment within seven business days. Please be mindful that we wouldn’t be able to assist with the mailing expense you incur to mail garments back to us.

    US RETURNS: Please visit this page to initiate a return or exchange and to purchase a return shipping label to print and mail your items to our US warehouse location.

    INTERNATIONAL DISCOUNTED DHL RETURN SHIPPING OPTION: For either exchanges or returns, we are happy to offer a discounted return shipping option via DHL, which is usually less expensive and faster than shipping options with tracking offered through your governmental postal service. We can schedule the DHL return pickup service at a discounted rate of $35 USD. Please note that for all countries outside of the US, you will be returning your items to Bulgaria, EU where our warehouse and atelier are located.

    Please contact us with the specific pieces you’d like to return/exchange, and we’ll send you a link to purchase the discounted DHL shipping. Please note that DHL does not operate in all areas, in which case they will arrange for a local subcontractor to collect the package. Also, if you do not wish to take advantage of our DHL pickup option, we recommend using a governmental postal service first class or priority mail option with a tracking number to ensure the package’s safe arrival.

    MASKS: Please keep in mind that as we write in the listings, masks are ineligible for returns or exchanges due to health and safety reasons.

    When can I expect my refund?

    We will reimburse you within seven business days of receiving your return. For exchanges, we will mail the replacement as fast as possible, and will send you a note with the new tracking number.

    What if my items are damaged, defective, or incorrect?

    If you have received a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, contact us with a photo of the damage, or the wrong item you received, as well as your order number. We’ll take care of you!


    What forms of payment do you take and what currency are your prices in?

    We accept payments from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Elo, and JCB via Shopify Payments

    Additionally, we accept payments via PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay.

    We also accept payments via QuadPay — For approved purchases, QuadPay will split your payment into four interest-free installments! Please select QuadPay on our payment page during checkout if you're interested.

    What does Clearance mean?

    All items marked “Clearance” and or “End Of Season Sale” have been reduced in price and cannot be returned for a refund or exchange for a different size, color, or style. We understand that buying clearance items online can be tricky, so if you have any questions about sizing, fit, or fabric, please reach out to us before placing your order.

    Can I return clearance items?

    Clearance/End Of Season Sale items may not be exchanged and can only returned for store credit. Please view our return policy for more information on returns.

    What is the difference between a Sale and a Clearance item?

    Regular sale items may be returned or exchanged. Clearance/End Of Season Sale items may not be exchanged, and can only be returned for store credit. Please review our return policy for more information, or contact us with any questions.

    What is "final sale"?

    Garments labeled “Final Sale” are highly-discounted and are not eligible for any returns, exchanges or store credit. Please note that all masks and filters are also considered final sale, as they are not eligible for any type of return or exchange due to health and safety reasons.

    Something I ordered is now on sale? Will you match the new price?

    Sorry, price adjustments will not be provided for items with a reduced price. We only offer sales for a limited time so, by buying early, you ensure that you can get the style in the color and size you want.

    Can I get a promo code for my order?

    New subscribers to our newsletter or SMS updates receive a coupon code just for signing up! Plus, once you join, you’ll be the first to know about upcoming promotions, storewide sales, new designs, and more.

    Do you have a loyalty program?

    Yes! You can open the rewards menu from any page on our main site—simply click the round rewards icon at the bottom left of your screen. In the rewards menu, you’ll see the option to sign up or log in to your account to collect and view your rewards. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create an account on our site to access the rewards feature.

    How do I get more points, and how can I redeem them?

    There are tons of ways to earn loyalty points (you’ll even get some automatically just for signing up)! You can click on the “Ways to earn” tab on the rewards menu to view the complete list of how to collect points by completing the listed actions. You will also earn three points for every dollar you spend on our site through your linked account. When you’re ready to redeem your rewards, click on the “Ways to redeem” tab of the menu to see your options!.

    Do you have a referral program?

    You can refer your friends through our loyalty program too! With referrals, both you and your friend can earn a reward when they make their first purchase through your referral link. Click on “Refer your friends” from the rewards menu for details. Thanks for spreading the word!!

    Why isn’t my promo code working?

    Don’t panic! Usually if a code isn’t working, it’s because the terms of the promotion have not been met, or because there is already a discount applied to your order (score!). If the requirements are met and the code is valid, you shouldn’t have a problem, but please contact us if you’re still experiencing issues.

    How do I track my school days?

    Do you offer gift cards?

    We currently offer only e-gift cards. You can find them here.

    Can you gift wrap my order?

    All designs are gift-ready, wrapped with love.

    Just let us know if you want us to include a gift message for orders shipped from our European warehouse. Simply include it within the special instructions box at checkout, or send us an email with your request. We have special cards to include with your package—Happy Birthday, Happy Holidays, Get Better—ready for your message of love and positive thoughts.

    We will also include a gift invoice (available only for orders shipped via DHL Express).

    Please note that gift options are not available for US mask orders.
